Discover Which Wheel Drive You Should Choose

If you don't know the differences in front- and rear-wheel drives, read on. Here's what you need to know to make an informed decision when buying a car.

Front-wheel drive (FWD) is less expensive and offers better gas mileage. They have better traction in rough weather. One issue with FWD is that its weight is at the front of the vehicle, making it nose-heavy, which reduces handling at higher speeds. Choose rear-wheel drive (RWD) if you want a car that's tough enough to handle a few bumps and dings and still run just fine. RWD cars have better balance because the weight is evenly distributed. That handling does not extend to inclement weather. If roads are slick, your RWD car could very well lose traction.
